Woman found unresponsive with injuries

Police are on Alfred Way off Malcolm Road, where a female has been found unresponsive with injuries.

The circumstances surrounding the incident are unclear at this time. However, concerns have mounted in recent weeks over violence against women.

Last month, a 72-year-old woman was sexually assaulted and strangled to death shortly after arriving at her home on Ross Corner by a 25-year-old man who was allegedly under the influence of drugs and jumped through the front window to get inside the home.

Days before that, a 12-year-old girl who had been reported missing was found dead on a track road off Faith Avenue with just a top on and a cloth tied around her neck.

Police later revealed that she too had been sexually assaulted and strangled.

A 32-year-old man was taken into custody in connection with her death.
