Robyn Lynes appointed Ambassador and Plenipotentiary Representative to CARICOM

Progressive Liberal Party Senator Robyn Dawn Lynes has made the leap from the campaign trail to the diplomatic arena, following her appointment as The Bahamas’ new Ambassador and Plenipotentiary Representative to the Caribbean Community (CARICOM).

Lynes, who emerged as one of the PLP’s more visible candidates during the 2026 general election, will now represent The Bahamas at the regional level after mounting a spirited challenge in the Killarney constituency.

Although she ultimately placed second, Lynes put up a valiant fight in a constituency long considered a Free National Movement stronghold.

Her campaign was marked by energetic PLP rally speeches, where she regularly captivated crowds and focused her message on issues affecting Bahamian families and communities.

Lynes’ ability to engage supporters and connect with voters helped make her a notable presence on the PLP’s 2026 campaign trail, despite the difficult political terrain she faced in Killarney.

As Ambassador and Plenipotentiary Representative to CARICOM, Lynes will be charged with representing The Bahamas’ interests within the regional bloc and helping to advance the country’s diplomatic, political and economic priorities.

The appointment gives Lynes a role beyond domestic politics and places her at the centre of The Bahamas’ engagement with its Caribbean neighbours.
