PM: My heart is with Bimini residents affected by fire

Police in Bimini have launched an investigation into a structural fire that destroyed a multi-family residential building on Kings Highway in Bailey Town early Wednesday morning.

According to a preliminary police report, shortly after 6:00 a.m., officers were alerted to the incident and responded to the scene. Upon arrival, they found a two-storey concrete-and-wood structure containing four residences fully engulfed in flames.

With the assistance of volunteers, firefighters and emergency responders were able to bring the blaze under control. However, the building sustained extensive damage.

Authorities have not yet determined the cause of the fire, and investigations remain ongoing.

In the wake of the incident, Prime Minister Philip Davis expressed his support for the affected families and pledged the government's full assistance.

"My heart is with the families in Bimini who have been affected by today's devastating fire," Prime Minister Davis said. "I have directed that every available government resource be mobilized to support those affected."

The Prime Minister also announced that Deputy Prime Minister Chester Cooper will lead a government delegation to Bimini to assess the situation firsthand and coordinate relief efforts.

The delegation is expected to meet with residents, local officials, and emergency personnel to ensure that displaced families receive the assistance and resources they need as they begin the recovery process.

Officials have not yet released information regarding the number of people displaced or whether any injuries were reported.

The investigation into the cause of the fire is continuing.
