The Progressive Liberal Party (PLP) is set to present thirteen candidates — including prominent business and political figures — for ratification before its National General Council (NGC) this evening, as part of its ongoing selection process ahead of the next general election.
The event will take place at 7:30 p.m. tonight at PLP Headquarters on Farrington Road, New Providence, and will be livestreamed via the Progressive Liberal Party’s official Facebook and YouTube channels.
Among the notable names to be ratified are:
• Sebas Bastian, CEO of Island Luck, for the Fort Charlotte constituency
• Senator Darren Pickstock for Golden Isles
• Seabreeze MP Leslia Brice, who is expected to be re-ratified for Seabreeze
The move comes as the governing party sharpens its focus on candidate selection in anticipation of the next general election. The PLP, currently led by Prime Minister Philip Davis, is seeking a second consecutive term in office.
Davis recently said the level of interest from prospective candidates demonstrates the trust and confidence the Bahamian people continue to place in the PLP.
Meanwhile, the opposition Free National Movement (FNM), under the leadership of Michael Pintard, continues to face internal divisions, raising questions about its readiness to mount a serious electoral challenge.
Tonight’s ratification is expected to draw significant attention as supporters and political observers look to see how the PLP will position itself for the upcoming campaign season.
