Plane crashes on the way from Nassau to Andros

Authorities have launched a search operation following reports of a plane crash near North Andros Airport.

Police said the control room received an alert that an aircraft had crashed in the Pine Yard area, near the airport.

According to preliminary information, seven people were on board the aircraft.

Emergency responders and law enforcement officers were immediately dispatched to the scene, while the relevant local authorities have also been notified and are assisting in the response.

The aircraft was reportedly traveling from Nassau to San Andros when the incident occurred. At this time, officials have not confirmed the condition or whereabouts of the seven occupants.

The reported crash comes as Andros is hosting Independence holiday weekend festivities, with residents and visitors participating in celebrations across the island.

Police say the search remains ongoing and have indicated that additional information will be released as it becomes available.
