A 39-year-old man appeared in the Magistrates Court today, facing serious charges in connection with a tragic shooting incident that claimed the life of a 27-year-old man in Big Pond earlier this month.
Lathario Missick has been formally charged with Murder and two counts of Attempted Murder, linked to the fatal shooting that occurred shortly after midnight on January 13 - the country’s first murder of the year.
The incident unfolded outside a residence on Lakeshore Road, near Tucker Road, when the victim and two other individuals were standing outside when a black American-model sedan approached from Rupert Dean Lane.
A passenger in the vehicle exited and opened fire, discharging multiple shots in the direction of the three men, causing them to scatter in an attempt to escape.
Witnesses reported that the suspects quickly fled the scene, speeding south down Water Street in the sedan.
Police responded to the area and found the victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to his upper body. He was pronounced dead after being transported to the hospital.
Missick was not required to enter a plea to the murder charge.
