Islandwide power outage on Mayaguana

The entire island of Mayaguana is in darkness after Bahamas Power and Light’s generator gave out.

It is the second islandwide outage reported on Mayaguana in under a week.

The island is expected to remain without power until a new generator arrives on Wednesday morning and is installed.

We’re told a generator being used to provide power supply on the island finally gave out despite efforts by technicians.

On Monday, a BPL engine on Mayaguana caught fire after experiencing an oil leak. One technician sustained minor burns during the ordeal.

Abaco has also experienced power outages in recent days.
