FNM confirms it won’t run Minnis

The Free National Movement (FNM) has confirmed that Killarney MP Dr. Hubert Minnis will not receive a party nomination ahead of the 2026 General Election, putting an end to months-long speculation that the former prime minister will not run on the party’s ticket.
Minnis has been informed of the FNM’s decision to choose a new candidate for the constituency, which is regarded as a FNM safe seats. During a meeting with FNM Leader Michael Pintard, Minnis was asked to make suggestions to the party on suitable replacements for the constituency.
Minnis, who has been the Killarney MP since 2007, fell out of favor with the party after he sought to undermine Michael Pintard’s leadership then challenged him in a leadership race at the FNM convention last year.
