Flamingo Air Operations Suspended Following Andros Plane Crash

The Ministry of Energy, Utilities and Aviation has confirmed that the Civil Aviation Authority Bahamas (CAAB) has temporarily suspended the Air Operator Certificate (AOC) of Flamingo Air following a plane crash in North Andros.

In a statement issued Friday, the ministry said it was notified of the crash involving a Flamingo Air aircraft earlier in the day. The Aircraft Accident Investigation Authority (AAIA) will lead the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident.

According to the ministry, CAAB imposed the temporary suspension in the interest of aviation safety after two safety incidents involving the airline occurred.

TheDirector General of CAAB said the suspension is a precautionary safety measure and should not be interpreted as an adverse compliance action against Flamingo Air.

Officials say the Ministry of Energy, Utilities and Aviation continues to receive updates from CAAB and other relevant agencies as the investigation progresses.

The ministry also extended its thoughts and prayers to the families affected by the incident.

Authorities have not yet released additional details regarding the cause of the crash, which had one survivor.
