Estates

Arawak Homes, a leader in Bahamian real estate development, officially opened its latest subdivision, Greg Burrows Sr. Estates, today, honoring one of the most influential figures in Bahamian youth development and baseball.
The housing development, located along Pine Barren Road, was named in recognition of Burrows’ near three-decade-long dedication to the growth of youth sports, particularly baseball, in The Bahamas.
The opening ceremony, which took place in conjunction with the start of the 2025 Freedom Farm Baseball League season, saw a gathering of community leaders, sports figures, and local residents who celebrated both the new development and Burrows’ monumental impact on Bahamian youth.
In his address, Arawak Homes President Franon Wilson spoke with deep respect for Burrows, noting the incredible strides he has made in nurturing young Bahamian talent.
“Today’s naming of this subdivision is not just about real estate; it’s about honoring a man whose passion for developing young people has shaped the future of many Bahamians," Wilson said. "Greg Burrows Sr. has given so much to this country—his work is a legacy that will continue to inspire generations to come."
Burrows, the founder of the Freedom Farm Baseball League (FFBL), which he established in 1989, has dedicated nearly 30 years to nurturing young Bahamian baseball players. The league, which provides training, mentorship, and competitive opportunities, has become a pillar of youth baseball in The Bahamas. Many of its players have gone on to secure athletic scholarships and advance to professional leagues both in the U.S. and abroad.
As Caribbean Commissioner for Babe Ruth Baseball, Burrows' influence extends beyond the borders of The Bahamas, working tirelessly to expand the sport's reach and quality in the region. His commitment to baseball has undoubtedly had a profound effect on the development of young athletes in The Bahamas, with countless success stories emerging from the Freedom Farm program.
Greg Burrows Sr. Estates is not just a housing development; it is a tribute to Burrows' enduring legacy of youth empowerment, leadership, and sportsmanship. With its spacious homes, community-centered design, and picturesque surroundings, the estate is set to become a thriving neighborhood and a lasting reminder of the positive impact Burrows has made in his community and the country at large.
As the ceremony wrapped up, Burrows expressed his gratitude, humbly acknowledging the honor and reflecting on his journey.
