A teenage girl told a court that she lied about her age when she started dating an older man.
The 16-year-old high school student said that she met Marvin Beneby on Facebook and told him she was 18.
They began an intimate relationship and she eventually ran away and moved in with the 45-year-old.
The girl lived with Beneby from
July 5, 2021, through August 5.
The prosecution contends that Beneby broke the law because the girl couldn’t legally live with him without her parents’ permission.
However, she could consent to sex.
Beneby faces a maximum of two years’ imprisonment if convicted.
