Deputy Communications Director of the Public Hospitals Authority, D’Asante Small, is set to be sworn in on Tuesday as the newest senator for the Progressive Liberal Party (PLP).
Small will fill the seat left vacant by former PLP Senator Darron Pickstock, who resigned to contest the Golden Isles by-election on the party’s ticket last month.
Pickstock won the seat decisively and has since taken his place in the House of Assembly, prompting the need for a new Senate appointment.
Well-regarded within government circles, Small has built a reputation for his personable approach and strong communication skills, particularly in explaining and defending government policies.
Her appointment is already fueling speculation about her political future, with party insiders noting that she is eyeing a possible run as a PLP candidate in the 2026 General Election.
