Progressive Liberal Party (PLP) Senator Randy Rolle is said to be positioning himself to seek the party’s nomination in the newly created Bimini constituency ahead of the 2026 General Election.

The Bimini seat emerged from a new boundaries report by the Constituencies Commission, which separated Bimini from the former West Grand Bahama and Bimini constituency.

That seat is currently held by PLP Member of Parliament Kingsley Smith.

Rolle has been active on the ground in Bimini, holding meetings and engaging residents as he seeks to build support and secure the PLP’s nod.

Party insiders say his outreach efforts signal a serious interest in contesting the seat.

Rolle, who has family roots on the small island, was appointed to the Senate in 2021 following the PLP’s general election victory. He currently serves as chairman of the Consumer Protection Commission, a role in which he has maintained a visible public profile.

The creation of a Bimini constituency is expected to reshape political dynamics in the area, with increased focus on local representation and island-specific issues.

While Smith remains the sitting MP for the former combined constituency, the redrawing of boundaries opens the door for new candidates to emerge in Bimini.

The PLP is expected to ratify its remaining candidates later this month as it prepares for the 2026 General Election.
