Omar Archer still rotting in jail after wife brings fake papers
Former Registrar of Contractors Omar Archer is still sweating it out in prison after the court refused to accept fraudulent papers submitted by his wife.
To make matters worse for the 51-year-old, businessman Andrew Moree, the first cousin of Chief Justice Sir Brian Moree, backed out of his promise to post Archer’s bail on Monday.
Prison sources tell the Gallery that the FNM mouthpiece has been swanning around the Fox Hill facility in tight pants.
Archer has been remanded at the Bahamas Department of Correctional Services (BDOCS) since April 11 when he was charged in the Magistrates Court with intentional libel.
Earlier this month, the Free National Movement propagandist was arrested after he accused Minister of National Security Wayne Munroe of beating his wife.
Archer was granted bail on April 13 but he remains behind bars, two weeks later, because he has failed to find anyone to post bail for him.
It is a far cry from March 2017 when FNM lawyers were lining up to represent Archer in court to stay on the political activist’s good side ahead of the 2017 General Election.
In 2017, Archer was convicted of threatening to harm a senior police officer through a post to his social media page in 2015.
Back then, the FNM was hungry for power and willing to do anything to be elected.
Now, fresh off of the party’s stunning defeat in the 2021 General Election, FNMs have left Archer to languish in the Fox Hill prison.
