Alleged woman-beating cop released

Ex-cop and accused woman-beater Neariah Hepburn has been freed from police custody after his accuser dropped the case.

Police charged the 38-year-old with maiming after Walternique Black claimed he hit her in the left eye, causing her to lose her sight.

But the 22-year-old sung Hepburn’s praises today, claiming that he takes good care of her and her children.

She said that Hepburn hit her accidentally and covered her medical expenses.

Black left the court in tears on Friday after she unsuccessfully tried to drop the case.

Hepburn spent nine days in custody before the matter was withdrawn.

He was fired from the police force several years ago.
