Renward Wells, the former Minister of Health and ex-Member of Parliament for Bamboo Town, is said to be eyeing a return to frontline politics with the Free National Movement (FNM) despite his recent endorsement of Dr. Hubert Minnis as party leader.

Wells, who was a prominent supporter of Minnis during the FNM's convention in June, publicly backed Minnis's bid against current FNM leader Michael Pintard.

However, Pintard won the leadership contest decisively, raising questions about Wells's future within the party.

Wells is now hopeful that the party's leadership will overlook his support for Minnis and consider him for a nomination in the next election.

This comes as he aims to reclaim his political standing after losing his Bamboo Town seat to Progressive Liberal Party (PLP) candidate Patricia Deveaux in the 2021 general election.

Wells has kept a low profile while maintaining connections with his former constituents, hoping that Deveaux's tenure may weaken her support base ahead of the next election.

His political future appeared uncertain earlier this year when he faced health challenges, including two hospitalizations and a trip to the United States for medical tests.
