Little Grand Cay generator expected Tuesday after shipping delays

Residents of Little Grand Cay could see power restoration as early as Tuesday with the rental generation unit expected to arrive on the island, barring any further unforeseen delays.

The shipping company responsible for transporting the replacement generator said the unit was released from the rental company on Saturday after servicing was completed.

However, the company was only notified late Friday evening that it had been selected to provide and mobilize the replacement generation unit, creating challenges in coordinating the release and collection of the equipment.

Key personnel at the rental company were not immediately available, contributing to the delay.

The shipping company took possession of the generator on Sunday, and has since been coordinating with fuel suppliers while mobilizing the equipment and resources needed to transport it to Little Grand Cay.

Final preparations for transportation are now underway.

The prolonged outage has caused significant inconvenience for residents, with Bahamas Power and Light apologizing to consumers and thanking them for their continued patience and understanding as restoration efforts continue.

BPL said it remains focused on getting the rental generation unit to Little Grand Cay and restoring electricity to affected consumers as soon as possible.
