Two men accused of trying to kill murder suspect

Two men have been charged with attempted murder after a man on bail for murder was wounded in a shooting.

Prosecutors say Cleophus Smith and Dino Smith tried to bump off Leonard Symonette (pictured) on October 23.

He was working on a car through Peter Street when gunmen emerged from a black car and shot him, sending him to hospital with a shattered femur.

Symonette is wearing an ankle bracelet as a condition of his bail for the December 23, 2020 shooting death of Bradley Strachan at Hospital Lane.

The Smiths weren’t required to enter a plea to the attempted murder charge when they appeared before Magistrate Algernon Allen Jr.

Bail was denied and they return to court on February 9, 2023.
