A group of frustrated taxi drivers has blocked entry to Atlantis Paradise Island’s Royal Towers in protest of a policy adopted by hotel bosses.
Taxi drivers parked their buses by the entrance and jumped out of the vehicles.
Executive management has laid down rules which only allows a certain amount of taxi drivers on property at a time to transport guests as part of the resort’s covid plan.
Hotel officials called in the Royal Bahamas Police Force to have taxi drivers move their vehicles.
However, drivers are holding firm. Following the closure of Atlantis due to the coronavirus pandemic in 2020, taxi drivers say they waited nearly a year for the resort to reopen so that they could make a living.
Now that the resort is slowing reopening, drivers fear Atlantis’ covid plan will hurt their business.
