Romauld Ferreira has COVID-19

Environment and Housing Minister Romauld Ferreira has tested positive for Covid-19, prompting Cabinet Office to shut down today for sanitization and deep cleaning.

The government also arranged for cabinet ministers who were exposed to the Marathon MP to get tested for the coronavirus on Monday to determine if any other members of the Minnis cabinet have been infected.

Ferreira is said to be asymptomatic. He is the first cabinet minister and the fourth member of parliament to test positive for coronavirus.

Ferreira is now in mandatory quarantine.

All Cabinet Ministers and employees who were exposed to Ferreira will self-quarantine.

Prime Minister Dr. Hubert Minnis did not have direct contact with Ferreira, according to Cabinet Office.

“The Cabinet Office announces for general information that its office in the Churchill Building in Rawson Square will be closed for cleaning and sanitation on Monday 5 October 2020,” Cabinet Office said in a statement today.

Cabinet Office will reopen tomorrow.

As the coronavirus continues to spread in the workplace, several ministers including Prime Minister Dr. Hubert Minnis, Deputy Prime Minister Peter Turnquest and Education Minister Jeff Lloyd entered self-quarantine during the pandemic after being exposed to a positive covid case in their respective offices.

Lloyd ended up breaking quarantine before the two-week period was up to go grocery shopping in Supervalue Cable Beach with his wife, whom he also said was in quarantine.
