OPM Director of Communications Latrae Rahming dismissed remarks made by former Prime Minister Hubert Ingraham during the Free National Movement rally last night, saying the opposition was “leaning on old political figures because it lacks confidence in its current leadership.”
Rahming said the appearance of Ingraham at the rally underscored what he described as growing uncertainty within the FNM over the leadership of Michael Pintard.
“The FNM is now hiding behind former Prime Minister Hubert Ingraham because they know the Bahamian people still have serious questions about Michael Pintard’s leadership,” Rahming said. “Instead of presenting a clear vision for the future, they are borrowing credibility from the past.”
Rahming argued that Bahamians are more concerned about stability, economic growth, and consistent governance than political nostalgia.
“This election is not about reliving old political battles or relying on personalities from decades ago,” he said. “This election is about who can lead The Bahamas through uncertain global times, protect the progress we have made, and move this country forward with steady and responsible leadership.”
Rahming also suggested that the opposition has struggled to keep its message focused around Pintard, claiming the FNM has repeatedly redirected public attention away from its current leader.
“The FNM knows this election cannot be won on Michael Pintard’s leadership alone,” Rahming said. “That is why the focus keeps shifting everywhere else except him. Bahamians deserve to hear directly from the person asking to become prime minister about what his plan is, what his vision is, and how he intends to lead this country.”
He added that the government remains focused on governance rather than political theatrics, pointing to ongoing economic and infrastructure initiatives as evidence of the administration’s commitment to national progress.
