Operations at the Parliamentary Registration Department were briefly halted this afternoon after a fire alarm triggered an evacuation, sending staff out of the building and interrupting normal business. While the cause of the alarm has not been confirmed, the incident quickly became a focal point for the FNM, which argues it reflects broader issues within the department.

Attorney Michael Scott spoke on the party’s behalf as senior party leaders weren’t at the Department.

The party has already accused the PRD of refusing to provide it with the voters’ register for the advanced poll scheduled for Thursday. The FNM further claims that the same data has been made available to the Progressive Liberal Party.

Scott also alleges that there are still dead people on the voter register. However, PRD officials have maintained that the process will be fair and transparent.

With election day fast approaching, the party appears to be using the moment to highlight what it describes as procedural inconsistencies, framing them as obstacles to a level playing field.
