Prominent attorney charged with obstructing justice

Phillip Lundy, 61, was arraigned today in Magistrates Court for obstruction of justice.

It is alleged that on Nov 29, 2019, Lundy threatened and intimidated Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bowe Darville.

Lundy plead “absolutely not guilty “. He was represented by attorneys Ian Cargill and Barry Sawyer.

Defense Attorney Cargill brought to the attention of the court that as this matter was a summary matter and the alleged offense took place over 6 months ago, the statute has expired. The question arises as to whether the matter has been properly placed before the court.

The prosecutor consulted with the investigating officer 3310 George Rodgers.

It was discovered that no “fiat” was filed. Chief Magistrate Joyann Ferguson-Pratt set a date for a status hearing for August 5, 2020 to rule on the matter.

Bail was set at $20,000 with two sureties.
