UPDATE: Police kill driver of black car
Police shot and killed a man near Bahamas Hot Rod Association while responding to reports of a disturbance in the area around 5pm Sunday.
Units were dispatched to Bethel Avenue and on their arrival, the officers met a large gathering.
Officers were checking vehicles and patrons as they exited the Sunday hangout when the driver of a
small black vehicle sped up in the
direction of the officers and refused to stop.
The officers said they were in fear for their lives and drew their service weapons and engaged the occupant of the vehicle. The driver continued west along Corridor
Seven and later crashed into a northern wall.
Emergency Medical Services were summoned and transported a man to the hospital where he later died.
Police searched the vehicle and said they found a weapon.
