PM recommends Knowles as RBPF Commissioner


Prime Minister Philip Davis confirmed that he has recommended Assistant Commissioner of Police Shanta Knowles as the next Commissioner of Police.


Knowles, who is stationed in Grand Bahama, traveled to New Providence to meet with Davis at the Office of the Prime Minister today.


Commissioner Clayton Fernander, who resigned today, also met with the prime minister at his office on West Bay Street.


Davis described Knowles as a strong and capable woman. She joined the Royal Bahamas Police Force 33 years ago and has served in various capacities, including the Southern Division, Criminal Investigations Department, the Family Island District of Exuma, and Eleuthera and the National Crime Prevention Office, Human Recourses Department and as Commandant of the Police Reserves.



From 2017 to 2020, ACP Knowles served as the Director of the National Crime Prevention Office.
