PLP Vice Chairman Terence Bethel dies

Updated: Jan 3, 2021

Another outstanding Bahamian was lost in 2020 following the death of Progressive Liberal Party National Vice Chairman Terence Bethel.

He was found dead in his home on Wednesday morning. Bethel’s sudden death came as a shock to loved ones and colleagues.

“This is stunning, shattering and sad,” said PLP Chairman Fred Mitchell.

“He was a pillar of strength to the PLP. One day I had hoped he would have the opportunity to serve in the frontline. He was full of energy and ideas and loved to teach the young the ways of the country and the party,” Mitchell said in a statement on Wednesday.

Bethel was instrumental in the formation of the National Heroes Day Committee and the Men’s Branch of the PLP.

He is the son of veteran broadcaster Carl Bethel and often added his voice to the national dialogue during guest spots on local radio shows.
