Authorities are searching for a private plane that crashed in waters shortly after takeoff from Lynden Pindling International Airport (LPIA) on Monday morning with one person onboard.
The Piper Cherokee N1215H took off after 10am en route to Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport in Florida.
However, the plane experienced engine failure. The pilot made an attempt to turn around but the aircraft crashed into waters west of New Providence.
Search and rescue teams are currently searching waters for the pilot.
