Missing teen’s friends charged with murder

Updated: Nov 17, 2020

Two friends of missing teen Lavard McKenzie were today charged with murder.

Franklyn Glinton, 20, of Number 19, London Avenue, and a 17-year-old boy were the last people seen with McKenzie on August 27.

On August 30, a search team found a male’s badly decomposed body, believed to be McKenzie, in bushes around the corner from his home in Miller’s Heights.

Prosecutors allege that Glinton and the teen killed John Doe between August 27 and 30.

McKenzie isn’t listed as the victim on the docket, as investigators await DNA tests to confirm his identity.

Chief Magistrate Joyann Ferguson-Pratt remanded Glinton to prison and the teen to Simpson Penn School For Boys following their court appearance.

They were not required to enter a plea to the murder charge and they return to court on December 15.
