Minnis: I do not have COVID-19

Amid speculation that he caught coronavirus from his friend and fellow cabinet minister Desmond Bannister, Prime Minister Dr. Hubert Minnis said on Thursday he does not have the virus.

Cabinet Office announced last night that Bannister, the Minister of Public Works, tested positive for COVID-19 and that all cabinet ministers, including Minnis would enter quarantine.

Though he is working from home, Minnis told friends he did not test positive for the virus and he is only in quarantine for the 14-day incubation period out of an abundance of caution. This is the PM’s third time in quarantine.

Bannister was seen outside of the Churchill Building before the weekly cabinet meeting on Tuesday talking to reporters up close with no face mask on. However, all of the reporters appeared to be wearing masks.

Bannister is said to be asymptomatic. He is the second cabinet minister and the fourth member of parliament to test positive for COVID-19.
