A man, being electronically monitored for a serious criminal offense, was shot and killed in broad daylight this afternoon on Lexington Avenue, in what police are calling a targeted attack.

The victim, a local resident in his early twenties, was standing outside a residence shortly after 5 p.m. when a dark-colored Japanese-model vehicle pulled up. A gunman exited the car and began firing at the man.

According to eyewitness accounts, the victim attempted to flee on foot but was pursued by the shooter, who continued firing.

The man was struck and collapsed on the pavement. Emergency responders arrived at the scene and pronounced him dead.

Authorities have not yet released the victim’s identity but distraught family members were on the scene.

Police are now searching for surveillance footage and seeking witnesses as they search for the suspect and the vehicle involved in the shooting.
