Man charged with 850K fraud

The Financial Crime Investigation Branch of the Royal Bahamas Police Force brought 39-year-old Damalus Curry before the Magistrates Court today on charges of possession of a forged document and uttering a forged document.

He is the second person to be charged following an investigation into a complaint that the Bahamas Securities Exchange Commission was defrauded of $850,000.

The other suspect was charged in March.

Curry entered a not guilty plea.

He was also charged along with former FNM Cabinet Minister Elma Campbell in March. He faces one count of money laundering in that case.
