Local government workers not paid
Local Government employees are in limbo after the government failed to pay workers’ salaries for the month of February.
The government dropped the ball and did not remit funds to any of the family island districts. Three days into March, they are still awaiting payment.
Workers are growing impatient as many of them are living from paycheck to paycheck during the economic downturn that has dragged on for nearly a year.
Local government officials are hopeful that employees will receive their funds this week to meet their financial obligations.
