Ministry denies new “skin bald haircut” policy for male students

The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology says it has not introduced a new policy requiring male public school students to have “skin bald haircuts.”

In a statement issued Sunday, the ministry said the document circulating on social media was not issued or authorised by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology and that no such policy exists.

The ministry said its existing grooming policy remains unchanged.

Under the current policy, male students are expected to keep their hair low and properly groomed in accordance with established school standards. Students who grow their hair for religious purposes are required to appropriately cover it with a turban.

The ministry expressed concern over the circulation of the fraudulent document, particularly as parents, students and school administrators prepare for the reopening of schools.

It said false information presented as official government communication can create unnecessary confusion and concern among families and school communities.

The ministry is urging members of the public to be cautious when encountering notices circulated through social media and messaging platforms and to verify information before sharing it.

It said official announcements, policies and notices should be confirmed through the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology’s official website and Facebook pages.

The warning comes as parents and students prepare for the new school year.
