Lanisha Rolle to quit as Youth, Sports & Culture Minister

The Gallery has received word that controversial Minister of Youth, Sports and Culture Lanisha Rolle will tender her resignation following a damning forensic audit of her ministry.

Rolle is expected to send her resignation letter to Prime Minister Dr. Hubert Minnis today.

Rolle was embroiled in controversy last year when she used taxpayer funds to plaster her face all over medals for award recipients.

Following backlash, Minnis ordered Rolle to pay the money back.

She has also had a rocky relationship with the Junkanoo community. Rolle was shuffled off to Youth, Sports and Culture following drama in the Ministry of Social Services.

She is the only female in the Minnis cabinet. Her resignation would result in an all-male cabinet.

It’s not the first time Rolle has been forced to quit from an appointed positive.

In May 2016, she resigned as a Free National Movement senator while the FNM was in opposition.

Her resignation came after The Tribune published a series of stories about an alleged recording in which she made disparaging comments about several FNM MPs, including then Long Island MP Loretta Butler-Turner, during a conversation with political hopeful Lincoln Bain.
