Justice Milton Evans has been appointed as the next President of the Court of Appeal of The Bahamas.

Justice Evans’ appointment follows the retirement of the current President, Justice Jon Isaacs, who has reached the constitutional age limit for the prestigious position.

Justice Isaacs, a stalwart of the Bahamian judiciary for nearly three decades, has served with distinction in a variety of roles since he was called to the Bar on October 6, 1984. He began his legal career at the Office of the Attorney General, where he spent 13 years as a prosecutor, advisor, and civil litigation attorney.

Rising through the ranks, he was appointed Assistant Director of Legal Affairs before being named Chief Magistrate in January 1997.

After three years as Chief Magistrate, Justice Isaacs was appointed to the Supreme Court, where he served from 2002. He earned the title of Honourable Senior Justice in September 2009.

In 2014, Justice Isaacs was appointed to the Court of Appeal and quickly ascended to the position of President.

Over the course of his 28-year tenure in the Judiciary, Justice Isaacs has become a pillar of legal integrity and leadership in The Bahamas. His retirement marks the end of an era, and his legacy in the judicial system will be long remembered.

Justice Milton Evans, appointed to succeed him, brings a wealth of experience and expertise to his new role.
