July 7 phased reopening for Atlantis

The country’s largest private sector employer is set to bring some employees back to work as it prepares for its phased reopening on July 7.

President and Managing Director Audrey Oswell penned a letter to employees today to inform them of plans to reopen in phases.

“After several difficult months, I am pleased to inform you that Atlantis will begin welcoming guests back through its doors on July 7, 2020,” according to the letter.

“Phase one begins July 7, 2020 when we welcome our first guests back to The Royal.

“In phase one Royal Bath, Mayan Temple, Power Tower, Zero Entry and Splashers will open.

“All beaches will open and Dolphin Cay will open. The main casino, spa and Marina Village will open. Some but not all of our restaurants and lounges will open.”

Oswell said the launch of phase two will be contingent upon business volume.

“If you are called back to work as part of the phase one reopening, you will be notified by Human Resources.

“If you do not receive a letter or a call directly from Human Resources, you should not report to work and regrettably you will continue with your furlough.”

The mega resort, which is the jewel of Paradise Island, announced that thousands of employees would be laid off after the Bahamas closed its borders in March.

“We know that there will continue to be hardship for many of you. Be assured that we are making every effort to bring tourism back to previous levels so we may get you back to work,” Oswell said.
