A Jamaican woman accused of killing her former gay lover has been charged with murder.
Shortly after the incident, Beckford, 33, went live on Facebook and claimed that she stabbed Lakeisha Mackey in self-defense.
According to police, Mackey was stabbed during an argument with another woman in the parking lot of the Mayfair Hotel on February 2020.
Beckford, who is also known as “Star”, appeared unmoved as crowd of Mackey’s friends threatened and insulted her outside of court.
Beckford was not required to enter a plea to the murder charge when she appeared before Chief Magistrate Joyann Ferguson-Pratt.
She was denied bail and next returns to court on June 16.
