Jackson Weech appointed Director General of Tourism

Bahamian hospitality executive Jackson Weech has been appointed Director General of Tourism, taking over the senior post on October 1.

Weech succeeds Latia Duncombe, who has been reassigned to the Office of the Prime Minister following her tenure as Director General.

The Ministry of Tourism says Weech brings more than 35 years of experience in the tourism and hospitality industry, with a career spanning The Bahamas, the wider Caribbean and the United Kingdom.

In his new role, Weech is expected to provide technical leadership as the Ministry works to sustain the sector’s recent performance. Tourism officials have pointed to continued growth in stopover arrivals in 2026, including several record-setting months.

Weech said he is humbled by the appointment and views the opportunity as a chance to serve the country while working alongside tourism industry partners and stakeholders.

Speaking about his new responsibilities, Weech said his focus will be on advancing the tourism sector in a way that benefits Bahamians across the country.
