A disturbing video showing immigration officers using excessive force during a home raid has sparked public outrage and calls for accountability. The footage, which was shared widely on social media, captures tense moments when officers from the Department of Immigration can be seen physically manhandling multiple residents of a home.
In the video, a man, identified as a resident of the home, is shown struggling to breathe as officers hold him down. Family members can be heard screaming, “Let him go!” and “You’re choking him!” as the man, who is bare-chested and only wearing a pair of shorts, is restrained by officers.
Witnesses say that at one point, the man appears to be gasping for air, while officers appear unsympathetic to his distress.
The incident escalates further when another officer is seen punching a resident of the home. A female officer intervenes, attempting to hold back the aggressor, but the scene continues to unfold in a chaotic and alarming manner.
In the midst of the altercation, bystanders try to intervene, explaining that the man being restrained is a Bahamian citizen, not an undocumented migrant.
“He is a Bahamian!” one bystander can be heard pleading in the video. Despite the protests, the officers continue their forceful actions, raising questions about the manner in which they conduct raids and interact with the public.
In another part of the video, another man attempts to step out of the house, only to be forcefully pulled back by an officer. Though the man initially resists, he eventually acquiesces and returns inside the home.
The video has sparked widespread condemnation on social media, with many accusing the officers of using excessive force and mishandling the situation. Some critics have raised concerns that the officers did not take the time to verify the man’s citizenship before resorting to physical tactics. Others are questioning the broader conduct of immigration enforcement in the country.
