Edward Turner, the husband of former Opposition Leader and former Free National Movement Deputy Leader Loretta Butler-Turner has died.

The Gallery understands that the well-known attorney died suddenly this afternoon.

His shocking death comes nearly three months after the couple celebrated their 31st wedding anniversary and two months after Butler-Turner’s birthday.

On December 28, Butler-Turner wrote in a tribute to her husband, “31 years ago, Friday, December 28th, 1990 at the historic St. Matthew's Anglican Church in the City of Nassau, in the presence of family and friends, Edward and l exchanged wedding vows.”

“Over the years there have been moments of Joy, Love, Tears, Laughter and Challenges. In spite of it all we have enjoyed a full life and created a family of our own.”

Butler-Turner described her husband as her biggest cheerleader and ended her loving tribute with the words, “31 years...And We Still Do!”

The happy couple also rang in the new year with their two children and closest family members at an intimate gathering at their Eastern New Providence home home on New Years Eve.

Turner is survived by his wife and their two children, Elizabeth and Edward III.
