Jamie Tynes, the son of former House of Assembly Chief Clerk Maurice Tynes, was among four men murdered in separate shooting incidents overnight.
Tynes and another man were shot and killed in the Fox Hill community around 10pm. Both men died on the scene. The victims, who were in their late forties, were ambushed by gunmen and police said they found drugs in their vehicle.
Shortly after 1am, a 24-year-old man was shot and killed on Crooked Island Street, off Palmetto Streets.
The man walked out of a business when he saw a light-colored Nissan Tiida pull up. Two men - one with a high-powered weapon and another with a handgun - jumped out of the car and opened fire on the man, shooting him multiple times. He tried to run away from his shooters but collapsed and died outside of the business.
The most recent murder happened after 4am on Sumner Street off Soldier Road.
Following the night of bloodshed, the murder count for the year is 69.
