Nearly a year after his abrupt departure from Cable Bahamas, former Vice President of Media David Burrows is preparing to take legal action against the telecommunications company, becoming the second former executive to do so in recent months.
Burrows, a longstanding figure within the organization, parted ways with Cable Bahamas in August 2024 after 18 years with the company. His planned lawsuit follows that of Rawiya Hanna, the company's former Vice President of Legal, who filed a high-profile wrongful dismissal suit earlier this year.
Sources close to Burrows confirmed that legal preparations are underway, though specific claims have yet to be filed publicly.
His exit, which came amid a broader wave of senior staff changes, had long been rumored within internal circles. In the years leading up to his departure, Burrows saw a narrowing of his responsibilities — first serving as Director of Product Development, then later as VP of Marketing and Media. In 2019, the marketing side of his portfolio was removed, leaving him solely in charge of the media division.
While the circumstances surrounding Burrows’ dismissal have not been made official, the timing and context echo wider concerns about executive turnover at the company.
In her lawsuit, Hanna alleged she was fired on August 30, 2024, without receiving her salary, vacation pay, or the notice pay owed to her under the Employment Act.
She claims her termination was part of a deliberate attempt by three board members to remove her from her position in order to protect their reputations and push forward personal agendas.
Hanna’s legal filing includes explosive allegations of misconduct, including claims that a senior board member made repeated unwanted sexual advances and later crashed into her BMW SUV after a company dinner, causing significant damage.
