FNM MP’s ex-fiancée to testify against him

The ex-fiancé of embattled Long Island MP Adrian Gibson has been listed by prosecutors as a witness in his high-profile corruption trial.

Alexandria Mackey and Gibson were both called to the Bahamas Bar in October 2014.

She was not only engaged to the former Water and Sewerage Corporation (WSC) executive chairman, but also shared a Royal Bank of Canada account with him during their relationship.

When Gibson told police that Mackey was his fiancée and they opened a joint account at RBC’s Cable Beach location while filing a police report in an unrelated matter, he never imagined it would be revealed that his lady love was also a director of Elite Maintenance - a company that was awarded fat WSC contracts months after it was formed.

While police charged Gibson’s cousin, Rashae - who was also listed as a director of Elite Maintenance - they did not charge Mackey, who was questioned by officers before the FNM MP was charged on 56 counts of corruption.

Mackey, who was said to be cooperative while talking to police, is expected to take the witness stand.

Gibson, who often spoke out on corruption during his time as WSC executive chairman, has been accused of accepting over a million dollars in checks and wire transfers from companies that received WSC maintenance contracts.

He allegedly used the illegally obtained money to buy a $525,000 house off Shirley Street, several properties on New Providence and Long Island and a fleet of vehicles. MP’s ex-fiancée to testify against him
