The newly formed election investigation unit has yet to look into accusations of voter fraud.
Police Commissioner Paul Rolle quickly formed the unit after National Security Minister Marvin Dames complained that his campaign posters had been removed. The unit later charged a man with the theft of the posters.
But, the same unit has failed to act on a brazen claim by Prime Minister Hubert Minnis that he had been “reliably informed” that the FNM won the advanced polls.
The statement undermines the integrity of the process since the ballots haven’t been counted.
Additionally, police have not announced an investigation into claims that some ballot boxes from the advanced polls weren’t sealed.
In a press release, the commissioner claimed that the Unit would “investigate all matters related to The Bahamas general election.”
Thus far, the Unit has ignored the elephant in the room regarding potential voter fraud.
