Chief Petty Officer Darrin Roker has been officially discharged from the Royal Bahamas Defence Force (RBDF) following his recent arrest in connection with an international drug trafficking operation.
A memo confirmed that Minister of National Security, Wayne Munroe, approved Roker’s discharge effective December 4, 2024.
The discharge comes in the wake of Roker’s alleged involvement in a high-profile criminal case, where he was arrested in the United States along with several other Bahamians.
The arrest stems from an unsealed indictment that names Roker, Chief Superintendent Elvis Curtis of the Royal Bahamas Police Force (RBPF), and Sergeant Prince Albert Symonette, as key figures in a conspiracy to facilitate the transshipment of large quantities of cocaine through The Bahamas and into the United States.
According to the indictment, the group is accused of orchestrating the movement of tons of cocaine from South America, using The Bahamas as a critical point in the drug smuggling operation.
Authorities in the U.S. had been investigating the matter for years, with law enforcement agencies working together to dismantle the illicit network.
The charges against Roker, Curtis, and Symonette mark a significant blow to the Bahamian law enforcement agencies, as all three were in trusted positions within their respective organizations.
