Confusion at the borders.

The Gallery is learning of new developments due to reopening of the country’s borders.

It has been reported that visitors are arriving having been preapproved by the Bahamas Ministry of Tourism to travel however, upon arrival Bahamian health officials have indicated approvals should not have been granted as their COVID-19 results did not come from the required RT-PCR-molecular diagnostic test. These tests are said to provide more accurate results but those results can take a minimum of two days and as long as a week. Rapid tests results although not as reliable can be gotten within a few hours.

Even more disturbing, The Gallery is also following a report regarding two new COVID-19 cases on Grand Bahama announced by Prime Minister Dr. Hubert Minnis in the House.. The Prime Minister failed to give details about the cases, but said that contact tracing measures are being taken. He also alluded to the possibility of a third COVID-19 positive case.

Sources say that one case is a female from Grand Bahama with no history of travel and the other is an undocumented migrant.
