Prominent businessman and former Doctors Hospital CEO Charles Sealy is reportedly eyeing the Progressive Liberal Party (PLP) nomination for the Golden Isles constituency, as the political landscape begins to take shape ahead of the next general election.

Sealy, a well-respected figure in the Bahamian business community, is said to be a frontrunner to replace sitting Member of Parliament Vaughn Miller, who is rumored to be stepping away from frontline politics after serving two consecutive terms.

While Miller has not officially announced his intentions, it is believed he will not seek another nomination.

Sealy’s potential candidacy has been met with optimism within some circles. Having served as CEO of Doctors Hospital for 13 years, Sealy earned a reputation for strong leadership in the healthcare sector before transitioning to private business ventures.

His entry into frontline politics is seen by many as a strategic move by the PLP to bolster its slate with candidates who bring both professional experience and public credibility.

The PLP recently held a training module for aspiring candidates at its headquarters, part of an internal vetting and development process. While several new faces are said to have attended, the party has yet to officially ratify any candidates for the upcoming election.

Meanwhile, the Free National Movement (FNM) has moved ahead with its preparations, having ratified 24 candidates to date. Brian Brown is set to represent the party in Golden Isles.
