BK Bonamy Jr. promoted to Assistant Commissioner of Police




Chief Superintendent Bernard Bonamy Jr has been promoted to Assistant Commissioner of Police.


“BK” is the son of former Commissioner of Police the late Bernard Bonamy Sr.


It is the first time in the history of the Royal Bahamas Police Force (RBPF) that a father served as commissioner and his son will serve as assistant commissioner.


Bonamy is a 38-year veteran after joining the organization in 1983. During that period, he has served in many administrative roles in various divisions of the police force.


In 2016, he led the Central Detective Unit, where several convictions were achieved under his command.


He led the Western Division of New Providence from 2016 to 2018, the Central Division from 2018 to 2020 and the Southwestern Division in 2020.


Before his promotion, Bonamy was the Commanding Officer in Charge of the Long Island Division.
