Police on Bimini were handing out COVID-19 fines like candy on Sunday after videos of a big beach on Radio Beach in Alice Town, Bimini went viral on social media.

Police issued a $500 ticket to the party’s host, 33-year-old Dano Duncombe and those who attended the beach party on Saturday night. If the Covid-19 rule violators don’t pay the fine by November 30, they will appear in court on December 7 to be charged and the offenses will appear on their criminal record.

The hosts were not granted special permission from the Competent Authority to host the beach party which had a large crowd of people who were not wearing masks or practicing social distancing.

“It’s after 12, Bimini ain’t on no curfew. Nassau on curfew,” the DJ said to the dancing crowd of over 100 people.

Most of the patrons were served with citations for violating Emergency Orders.

Police warned that all others will be identified and served with citations in regards to not social distancing and failing to wear face mask.

Bimini has had a total of 63 Covid-19 cases.

In May, the island was placed on a full two-week lockdown due to a worrying spike in Covid-19 cases.
