A roadside maintenance worker lost his life today after being struck by a vehicle on John F. Kennedy Drive.

The victim, identified as John Altidor, was employed by the Bahamas Public Parks and Public Beaches Authority and was reportedly carrying out work-related duties at the time of the incident.

Chief Superintendent Sybrina Porter said Altidor was attempting to cross the road when he was hit by a vehicle driven by a woman.

The collision caused him to be dragged down the road. He died at the scene.

Executive Chairman Jamahl Strachan expressed sympathy to Altidor’s family, friends and colleagues. He noted that the authority remains focused on maintaining safe working conditions for its staff and supporting those affected by the loss.
